Voyageurs National Park

Voyageurs is a large park with many lakes and over 900 islands. There were 3 islands that were close enough for us to explore by kayak from our campgrounds. We had a mix of conditions since we were there for 10 days. Some calm glassy days, some rougher with wind on the water and a couple that were too rough to go out so we did some land sight seeing and exploring.

All of the eagle photos were taken from a small boat. It's just not feasible to take a long lens out in a kayak. Even with the boat it was challenging to photograph the eagles with the boat moving and rocking. This is Lorna steering the boat into position with a trolling motor to keep from frightening the eagles. Most of the other photos were taken from a kayak with an I-phone.

We got to witness the northern lights 3 nights in a row while we were there. These photos were taken while sitting on a grassy knoll at our resort, The Pines at Lake Kabetogama.
